Nashville

Since I love to travel I thought I would start writing about my travels. I have been to Nashville during Fall twice, once in 2011 and then again the following year in 2012. I really enjoyed the city and hope to go back and see the Texans play with my husband this fall. Here are a few must do's in the country music capital of the world.

1. Nash Trash Tours. These women will have you crying, their skit is so hilarious. It is a tour but it's more about their routine and interaction with the people on the bus. You will get picked on so be ready.
Here is the link, you need to watch and see when you can make your reservation, they fill up fast.

2. A love a dark , swanky, speak easy type bar and this is the best! Amazing drinks and atmosphere, you can't beat this place. It's nothing like the bars on Broadway, check it out!

Here is the Yelp link

They have opened a restaurant above the bar called The Catbird Seat Restaurant. It has rave reviews and I can only imagine that it is a fantastic restaurant. It only seats twenty in a u shaped bar and the dinner is pre-pared while you watch. This kind of long dinner with wine pairings is my fav! I can't wait to check it out.

3. Broadway, County Music Row Ya'll
Of course I can't leave this off, this is what Nashville is all about. The music starts at breakfast and last late into the night, you will hear some amazing singers and some not so amazing singers (the breakfast time singers)! My favorite bar is Roberts Western Wear, if you are looking for a cheap meal grab a PBR and hot dog here!
4. Each time I have been I have stood on the street corner and watched this guy play the drums and sing about people walking by, he is amazing and so fun to watch.

5. East Nashville is an up and coming area sort, its a hip area and there is a great restaurant there. Mas Tacos Por Favor,  its a great Mexican restaurant. The pozole is amazing.

6. The library, yes I know but its amazing! Check out the third floor it's beautiful! There's a restaurant with a pretty terrace on the first floor. It has great coffees, croissant's and macrons.

7. Last, I have seen Imogene + Willie in ton of magazines and blogs but didn't get to check them out personally. They make custom jeans, and seem like very hip people.

8. If you have time check out Franklin, Tennessee.
Main street is like a dream, the homes are beautiful, shopping is great and there are plenty of places to eat.

I wish I could recommend a great place to stay but I can't, sorry!

Now raise your glass and give me a holler and swaller!

A hunter's wife's great delima..

Do we or do we not allow wild animals "decorating" our walls?
My husband and I had a six month argument over this exact topic after I told him I was buying this beauty from Excess in Round Top.
I know its odd but the colors are so amazing and I love quirky pieces. So I bought her and a few months later I was having an amazing lunch at Luke's in New Orleans when my husband sent me a picture of a DEER HE HUNG ON OUR WALL! Without asking, or even discussing where to hang it! Geez. No fun, I went from over joyed to ready to cry. The following picture's do it right but I swear ours is gone as soon as his new office is built, GONE!

Mammas chore chart

I don't understand how people keep up with their home, take care of kids, have time to spend with friends and workout and I don't even work (well subbing, but that really doesn't count)! So I think its time for me to make myself a chore chart. Jenny at http://littlegreennotebook.blogspot.com/ is such an amaizing decorator and seems to have it all together, she follows a chore chart and still has time to decorate other peoples home, do a TON of DIY's and spend time with her family. She seems like such an amazing person,  but I don't think she sleeps or even sits down..ever! Another blogger that has it going on, a place I go where I really want to feel shitty is
http://iheartorganizing.blogspot.com/ I have never seen anything like this in real life. Amazingly organized.

Here is the link to Jenny's chore chart from Little Green Notebook http://littlegreennotebook.blogspot.com/2012/03/my-cleaning-process-and-500-give-away.html

I need to figure out a way to keep my home tidy, laundry done and everything organized. Sounds impossible, I don't have a maid because I refuse to spend the money so its my job to dust fan's, base bards etc.
Here's my plan
CHORE'S
Morning:
unload dishwasher
clean kitchen after breakfast, lunch packing

Afternoon:
sweep

Evening:
load dishwasher
clean kitchen
everyone pick up

Monday:
Pick up outside- riding toys, cups, etc from the weekend.

Windows.

Laundry

Wednesday:
Bathrooms
Clean out kitchen paper area

Thursday:
Dust.
Clean upstairs.

Friday. Saturday. Sunday
Swing Days

Swing days:
Clean out refrigarators
Clean stove/oven

Everyone wish me luck!

Road goes on Forever and our party never ENDS

A few years ago I was outside with the kids and spoted a piece of shit coming around the corner loaded on my husbands truck. I was all "WTF, how much did you pay for this shit!?"  But, of course I embraced it, grabbed a beer and embraced it. What started as this..

Transformed

My girlfriends and I then started what has become a twice a year road trip to Texas Antiques Week in Round Top, Texas. They hold Prom and it is a blast, we shop all day then get dressed and walk to Zapp Hall where prom is held where we dance under the Texas stars all night long!

This is the morning after picture of our first prom.
A teacher at my sons school told me she saw this and thought it was a taco truck!

My handsome husband setting up camp in New Braunfels

Our first prom

Shopping in Warrenton

One of the many things I have purchased during antique week, this sexy beast is from the EXcess area.

Ultimately the back of the camper will look like this. Fun eh?

Several years ago we were living in Kemah and my husband decided we needed to buy a shrimp boat, so he did and we transformed a working shrimp boat into this beauty. The boat was a blast, we always got lots of looks and were able to sleep on it overnight, where we had one of our best date nights ever. Once we moved it just got to be to much that we decided to sale it.

Teacher Gifts.

Its that time of year, the best time of the year SUMMER. My kids have two days of school and I'm scrabbling to come up with a affordable teacher gifts. My go to gift is usually a beautiful beach towel, a fun Essie fingernail polish and a magazine however this year I can't afford it so its time to be creative. I've wanted to make French macaroons forever and finally attempted today. I followed this recipe http://www.homecookingadventure.com/recipes/chocolate-macarons-with-salted-caramel-filling and they surprisingly turned out well. I can't wait to try them!
Look how pretty

I also made chocolate bark that a friends mother makes, here's the recipe.
2 packages dark chocolate morsels
1/2 cup of salted peanuts
1/2 cup almond slivers
3/4 cup peanut butter
Sea Salt

Melt the chocolate in the microwave and then stir in the nuts, pour mixture into a 9x13" pan lined in parchment paper. Next, swirl in peanut butter and sprinkle sea salt over. place in refrigerator until it harden,s break, then place in Tupperware and keep refrigerated.

I love this blog http://www.youaremyfave.com/category/in-a-box/ and think copying her "in a box" theme for summer would be adorable. A fun nail polish, sunscreen, salt water taffy, a sonic gift card, magazine and a towel (if it fits) would be amazing, if I was made of $$.
Later.

I'm Back. Before & After Screened in Porch

It's been so long since I have blogged, but I'm planning on getting back into it. We have just renovated our home and are finally done, for a while anyway. I still need new furniture but that will come with time. I'll start with our porch renovation.
Before:

 During:

My husband built the hanging bed and the boat that's in the ceiling. LOVE them (and him)!
 After:
We finished just in time to have a birthday party for a few friends and I who recently turned 30.

My plan is to have a outdoor sectional by the hanging bed, a fun rug and some outdoor drapes.
This weekend I hosted a shower for a great friends that's having TWINS.
